Liberia Advances US Compact Discussions on Electricity and Mining Reforms

President Joseph Boakai received a progress briefing on 15 October concerning Liberia’s proposed compact with the US Millennium Challenge Corporation. The process is focusing on electricity infrastructure and mining-sector reforms, including transmission investment, governance improvements and stronger capacity to negotiate mining agreements. Government agencies need evidence-based budgeting, policy evaluation and investment-planning systems.
