Liberia’s agriculture minister identified US$243 million in proposed investment for rice production at the FAO investment forum on 14 October. The programme is intended to increase domestic production, expand modern milling and reduce dependence on imported rice; reported rice imports exceeded US$75 million in the first half of 2026.
Agricultural processors, wholesalers and logistics operators need improved storage, inventory forecasting and distribution systems. HPC supports supply-chain analytics and operational modelling; the US$243 million is a proposed investment allocation, not a completed procurement award.
