Liberia Highlights Sustainable Mining and Domestic Mineral Processing

On 28 October 2026, President Joseph Boakai used the opening of LIMEC 2026 to call for greater domestic processing of Liberia’s mineral resources rather than continued exports of raw materials. Discussions covered responsible mining, critical minerals, environmental sustainability and local industrial development; no specific environmental project budget was announced. The policy direction creates opportunities for environmental assessments, ESG reporting and resource-efficiency programmes.
